On site quizzes

We meet about twice a month in Bern, Zurich, Lucerne and Lausanne for our face-to-face quizzes. If these cities are too far away for you and you would like to help us organize face-to-face quizzes in other places, please get in touch with us; we can look together at what it would take to set up additional quiz locations.

The fee for a quiz evening (which usually includes two quizzes) is CHF 5 for members and CHF 7 for non-members.

The quizzes we play on site are as follows:

SwissQuiz

The SwissQuiz is our own quiz, which is organised about five-six times a year. The SwissQuiz consists of 100 questions, which are asked in German and are divided as evenly as possible between the eight topics of the International Quizzing Association (IQA) (see below). Some of the questions are always related to Switzerland. The questions are handed out in writing and the participants have 50 minutes to answer them individually. The player with the most points receives the maximum number of points for the Tour de Quiz.

In October 2022, a SwissQuiz was played as the official Swiss championship set. You can play this quiz for free here:

Around the world in 80 questions

From time to time, the Austrian Quiz Association's Around the world in 80 questions quiz is held as a German-language quiz instead of the SwissQuiz. The quiz consists of 80 questions, which are asked in German or English. Here too, all IQA topics are represented as evenly as possible. The special thing about this quiz is that the answer to each question is always the name of a country and each country only appears once in the entire quiz. The questions are handed out in writing and the participants have 50 minutes to answer them individually. The player with the most points receives the maximum number of points for the Tour de Quiz. The points from this quiz also count towards the Qutopia Pro Tour.

Hot100

As the official organiser, the Swiss Quiz Association also offers all quiz players the opportunity to take part in the IQA's international world ranking tournament once a month. The questions come from the IQA and the Swiss Quiz Association, as the organiser, then has two weeks to hold the tournament. In this tournament, 100 questions, which are asked in English, have to be answered in writing within 50 minutes. The answers can also be in German/French. The player with the most points receives the maximum number of points for the Tour de Quiz.

Qwizzeria Monthly

The Qwizzeria Monthly is an English-language quiz created by SQV member Rajan Thambehalli. At SQV, we play it as a pair quiz, i.e. in teams of two. It consists of 100 questions that have to be answered in writing within 50 minutes. The answers can also be in German/French. The points scored are credited to both players for the Tour de Quiz.

Squizzed

Squizzed is a monthly international quiz series from Croatian quiz master Dean Kotiga. The concept is modelled on that of the Hot100. All results are also summarised in an international ranking list in which the best quiz players in the world compete. In this tournament, 101 questions, which are asked in English, have to be answered in writing within 60 minutes. The answers can also be in German/French. The player with the most points receives the maximum number of points for the Tour de Quiz.  The points from this quiz also count towards the Qutopia Pro Tour.

Unlimited

Unlimited is a monthly international quiz series created by different authors from around the world. It consists of 80 questions to be answered in 45 minutes and is available in English and German. The player with the most points receives the maximum number of points for the Tour de Quiz and this quiz also counts towards the Qutopia Pro Tour.

QuizDiary

QuizDiary is an individual quiz competition consisting of 11 rounds. Every round consists of 121 questions, divided into 11 categories with 11 questions each. This 60-minutes quiz is available in Croatian and English. The answers can also be given in German and French. It is organized by the Zadar Quiz Association.

Open Series

There are various quiz associations worldwide that offer a so-called Open once a year. This is an international quiz that is offered to all other quiz associations to play along with. The questions are international and mostly divided in a similar way to the IQA categories. The number of questions varies depending on the association, but is usually between 180 and 240 questions - similar to the World Cup. This year the Swiss Quiz Association is offering the Serbian Open, the Norwegian Open, the Irish Open, the Croatian Open, the Austrian Open, the Zadar Open and, for the first time, our own Swiss Open. Here, too, you can collect points for the Tour de Quiz and the Qutopia Pro Tour.
